How does it benefit my skin?

Microneedling a.k.a. Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a process that uses a pen-like device with very fine needles to make tiny micro wounds in the skin. This triggers a repair mechanism in the body to heal the wound by releasing growth factors to make new collagen and elastin.

How many treatments will you need?

That depends on the condition of your skin and will be discussed during your initial consultation. On the average 8-10 treatments done 4-6 weeks apart are typical to achieve optimal results.

What kind of results can be expected?

The effects can be noticeable within 4 weeks as it takes the body that amount of time to start producing new collagen. After 6-8 weeks there will be more visible improvement and it will continue over time. The full effects continue to increase up to 1 year after microneedling.

How is it different from other skin tightening procedures?

Other skin firming procedures (lasers, Radio frequency, IPL, Ultherapy, Thermage) rely on thermal injury to create collagen. With a heat induced injury there is potential that a wound repair (stiff) collagen, rather then natural (supple, flexible, bouncy) collagen, will develop, and it is not what we want.

With microneedling there is no heat, therefore our body makes new collagen and elastin in a completely natural way which results in a smooth, healthy, glowing complexion.

Another great benefit of microneedling is enhanced penetration of skincare products (up to 10,000 x more absorption).

Is it painful?

Not really. Numbing cream is used to alleviate any discomfort during the procedure.

What to expect after the procedure?

Your skin will most likely look sunburned, it will feel warm, slightly sensitive to touch and may feel prickly and tight. All of this will subside within several hours. (You may take Advil if you need to and cool your skin with an ice pack). There may be slight flaking couple of days post treatment. This is a normal part of the healing process.

The most important thing to avoid after microneedling is heat! Therefore NO sun exposure, sauna, steam, swimming, or exercise for 24 hours.

Who is a good candidate for microneedling?

Almost anyone. Microneedling is minimally invasive and has been shown to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, as well as stretch marks, pigmentation disorders, sun damaged skin and pores.

However there are certain medical conditions that will prevent a client from receiving this treatment. That’s why a consultation is necessary prior to booking this service.
